Lie and hang up at first question of authenticity! (Scam call) reported by Gracie
These scammers have been calling me 1-3 times daily for many weeks. The area code = mine. Every time they call, they refuse to say their name, but state they're from the "Vehicle Service Department" and want to help me because my vehicle warranty is expiring (spoiler: not even close). They demand make/model of my car (I am now resolute to mess with them terribly next time they call, like telling them I own a 2010 Pontiac Vibe, which is hilarious for y'all that work in the vehicle industry)...but at any rate, as soon as I ask them for the name of their company, they hang up on me. Same if i ask if they know my name. LOL. So they have been instructed to give as little possible info out to people who might report them & instead hang up on you-up to 3x per day. I'd report them, but the BBB is no longer effective, so I plan to just make life a misery for them. I', sure my number'ss flagged but only catches up with their dialer about 30 seconds into the call, because sometimes they hang up on me halfway through a sentence (a la "Danger, Will Robinson!"). So I encourage EVERYONE to answer this call as frequently as possible & make calls incredibly difficult. It helps that I've worked not-far from Vandalia as a hiring manager for years and share the same area code; am considering (knowing their calls are recorded) offering up my biz phone for them to write down (they only call my cell) & saying, "Sweetie, you seem nice. I know you're being monitored so just jot this # down for when you want a real job." And then wait for them to call my business phone, get their name (who would NOT want out of this job?)...then make sure they grok how huge my contact network is before letting them know I now know who they are and if they ever want a job anywhere in Central/Southern IL, they need to actually delete my phone # because the next time they call I'm adding them to the "no-hire" list in my region. I think they legit do work in IL 'coz their accent is same as mine. So...here-we-go!
