My son had PT services in outpatient that billed through the hospital. I called Methodist billing directly and while he could not find our acct yet - I had JUST gotten my EOB from insurance the day before - he did verify that number was a legit number as billing they utilize. My husband called and they asked if we wanted to set up a payment plan. They havent even sent a bill yet. We told them to send the bill then we'd call them when we decided.

They called after 7pm and stated they were from Methodist Healthcare and wanted to verify my birthdate. I refused since they were the one initiating the call. They stated to call their business office and gave number. I looked up the number and found they were associated with debt collecting. I called Methodist Healthcare directly and spoke with the billing dept and they verified that I have a zero balance and don't owe them anything. I don't know who these folks actually are and what they want, but they are not associated with Methodist Healthcare.

They are. If you have a mychart you’ll see it. I set up a payment plan over the phone and it changed to a payment plan on my hart without me doing anything on the actual site. They are legit. Annoying, but legit.

Also Methodist Health Systems. They are connected with Charlton. It's their billing department. They called me even after I have set up a payment plan using MyChart, offering 10% discount. Sounded sketchy at first but they knew everything about my bill including dates, the exact amount and the last four of the card I setup the payment plan with. The website for Methodist Health Systems has the number listed under Financial Aid section of Pay My Bill.

I received a call today asking to speak to my son (who is 3). She was surprised to learn he is a baby. So I knew something was up. She claimed she was from Richardson Methodist Health Center. They then asked if I lived at such and such address in Plano, TX. I said No, I don't live in Plano. They asked me for his birthdate. I said I'm not giving that info out over the phone. Then the lady said, "Okay, thank you." I told her I'm reporting this as a spam call. Next, I called Richardson Methodist to let them know about this. (My son does not have a balance by the way.) The lady in billing said they've been getting calls from patients claiming that they owe money when they don't and that someone had tried to get them to pay their "balance" over the phone. I gave Richardson Methodist the phone # that they called from so that they could look into this: 469-399-2271. They took the number and are reporting it to management.
