Called my phone and my husbands. Left a voicemail stating it is quite urgent. the person he was asking for is my Ex Husbands neice. No idea how that linked to our numbers, but everything he said matches the above reports. total scam.

John Rivers rides again! Similar spiel as with other commenters. Called, left vmail message, "John Rivers from Texas, calling for (my name)... have doc on desk concerning you, important, want to discuss..." I did not return call.

This dude called me with a Dallas number and threw out the name of someone that I knew. He said his name was John Rivers and that he had some collateral stuff that my friend needed to sort out and that it was an emergency and that I had to call as soon as possible whatever. It's a complete scam. I reported him to the federal trade commission and I suggest you do the same. https://www.usa.gov/federal-agencies/federal-trade-commission

Called and said a document had just landed on his desk about my dad and his wife. He used my maiden name which hasn’t been my name for 6 years. So that threw up a red flag. Obviously not very current information.

Ol' John Rivers himself called me to let me know "he had a document escalated on his desk about me." I called him back(knowing it's a scam but a sucker for having fun with them) and he informed me that he was after me about a situation with a car. I told him, "Nope". Then proceeded to try and dig info out of him. Which, didn't work. I've reported the number to www.ftc.gov. Hopefully that works.

A man called and asked why I called him. I told him I didn't call him, he called me. I asked why he was calling, and he asked who I was. I said I didnt want to give that information. He said, "Well if you tell me who you are, I can tell you why I called you." Made no sense, and I said no thanks, and hung up. Very odd.

This number called a friend asking for my wife and I. I have had the same cell number for about 10+ years. Told her They are aware of our situation and for us to call them. Left no information, account number, company name, persons name that called etc. I called the number which is how I got a person's so called name of Johnny rivers from Dallas Texas who happens to be a country singer from the late 70's.
