Who called you from 4692709807 ?

Thank you! I usually don't even answer my phone when it's a number I'm uncertain of, thinking if it's important that they'll leave me a voicemail. However, knowing someone with a 469 area code from Dallas (but unsure of the rest) I decided to answer it. I was about to hang up not long after saying hello while he was talking, until he said it's to help family members of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. I said I would, and he said the donations start at $10 (I think) then $25, $50, and so on. I agreed to do $25, that's when he transferred me to a lady who is going to be sending the envelope and whatever else to send either a personal check cashiers check. What I'm curious about is how you found out it's a scam??? I want to be clear, I'm not doubting you at all, just genuinely curious. I really appreciate you letting us know it's a scam! Like an i*iot, I would've sent them the $25.

Generally anyone that is calling and asking for money and or information is definitely a scammer. I you really want to help out your local law enforcement agency, you can go down and talk to them or try calling the dispatch non emergency number and they might have ways that you can help out or recommend you to someone that is known or trusted. It doesn't matter the company that is calling me, I always hang up and then call the company back on a number that I know is a legitimate number. 9/10 the call turns out to be a scam and there really is no problem with a credit card or bank account I don't have... and there most certainly is not a Windows Error Code being thrown on my Apple Computer... they won't stop, and will certainly try tugging at the heart strings about helping law enforcement families... truly pathetic.

I feel so stupid for coming so close, because of what you mentioned, the credit card scammers, computer scammers telling me there's something wrong with my Windows OS (even if I were gullible to believe the computer BS, the fact that the guy sounds like he's from India, yet says his name is Jack Smith, well, I just can't help but laugh at those idiots). That's a great idea, listening to who they say they're with, hanging up, calling the company and finding out, thanks! Thank you also for mentioning that about calling the station. I actually received the envelope in the mail that I was supposed to send money back in, and I'm saving it, and some friends in law enforcement (I suppose I could ask them where to really help, now that I think about it) I think i'll show them everything that came in it. Whether it'll get anywhere or not, I don't know, but I'd bet scammers who try to use officers killed in the line of duty to make money are high on their s****
