I won $9000, all I had to do was provide SSN and checking account (Scam call) reported by


Unintelligible Indian accent first call; unable to properly troll before call was cut off. Received a call back within an hour, different guy with slightly less of an accent. I was told that I was the winner of a government grant for $9000, all I had to do was provide my checking account number and SSN. Interestingly enough, the scammer said that there WAS a stipulation that would bar me from receiving the money. According to him, if I accepted the money I would not longer be able to drink, smoke, do drugs, or gamble. That is certainly a new twist in the narrative. As soon as I asked about how they would be able to police such activity, the call was ended and I haven't received a call since.

Fake Government grant (Scam call) reported by


Woman with an Indian accent and a bad connection claimed that I qualified for a $1000 government grant. She hung up when I asked too many questions. I called the number back and found it's a non-working number. Why can't the FCC stop these scammers from spoofing phone numbers?

The caller's accent was so heavy I could not understand what "government department" they were calling from. An obvious scam.
