Called to say my social security number was suspended (Scam call) reported by


Said my social security number was suspended because of a lot of illegal activity and if I hung up or didn't take immediate action I would be arrested. They then said I should give them the number of my local police which I did and they were able to call having this number show on my caller ID. When they asked for bank info so they could keep my savings safe, I finally was convinced it was fraud. And when I personally called my local police they verified it was fraud and that they are able to put whatever number they want into caller ID.

I have received such calls in the past pretending to be from IRS/Social security Office and I have personally checked the federal government websites. Calling directly is absolutely not government protocol. The Social Security Office formally communicates by post. Thus, what they said on the call that there has been suspicious activity on my account and I need to press 1 to know more etc. cannot be from the government. Clearly, someone is intending to scam gullible people.

Did not answer. Voice Mail said press 1 for information about suspicious behavior with my SSN and that my SSN has been suspended. ****. SSA does not call anyone unless you’ve called them to make a phone appt, and an SSN cannot be “suspended”.
