If you know your bills, monitor your credit reports from all 3 credit bureaus regularly and have a handle on anything and everything that has to do financially and identity wise then what else could the call be, sure this person who called asked for me by the correct first and last name but as their caller id does not show a business name, they did not announce themselves to be calling from i.e. (acme llc or a business) they just said May I speak to (my first and last name) and left a opening for me to respond my immediate response is: I’M SORRY YOU HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER. they caller said thank you and I released the call. End of story. I’ve learned that if it was a collections or call related to financial concerns, this call will end up in them asking for some kind of personal details i.e. address, social security number, date of birth and tell you they first need to verify that their speaking with the person who is you but YOU MUST UNDERSTAND must likely they don’t those pieces of information address date of birth or social when you give that out in the interest to verify who you are cause it sounds like their protecting your personal information they have just obtained details about you that they didn’t have. Collections so buy your debt but most of the time that account with the debt has pieces of your information to legally collect that debt but a lot of the records don’t have anything about you but a phone number, so you verifying your identity with So this phone call they have done two things the collections agency or scammer 1. They just got all of your valid updated information and 2. If it’s collections I just verified the debt so you talking to them now they can come after you for sure make it a point to never discuss financial Or related business over a telephone line period... when you receive a call add someone so for you by your government name simply say In sorry you have the wrong number add hang up. You won’t be bothered again. It works:)
