A thinly veiled attempt to sway political opinions. (Political call) reported by


A woman in a call center started out by quickly mentioning this was a political poll. Twice, I asked for the name of the poller but she was too quick with the name for me to make out. She asked some questions about whether I was on a cell or house phone, whether it was safe to talk, and whether I was registered to vote in my state. She then asks if I'm a democrat/republican/independent/unaffiliated/other. She asks if I plan to vote in November. If I have a favorable opinion of Donald Trump. If I have a favorable opinion of the two frontrunners for a house seat in my district. She then asks what my main concerns are for the election, listing around 6 possible choices. The last of these choices is "to stand up to Donald Trump and support LGBTQ rights." She asks if I plan to vote for the democratic or republican candidate for my house district. She asks if my opinion of the republican candidate is affected by the statement that he "restricted hurricane relief funds". The last few questions were to confirm my phone number and first name. The entire call took about 7 minutes. I got the impression that this was an attempt to sway opinion for the upcoming election. From the line of questions, I would guess the call was prompted by a group that supports democrats over republicans. Though not the worst people to have spoken to me over the phone, I still felt it necessary to supply them with bad information because the Trump Train is an eight-year ride.

She sounded like she was in a call center. I didn't want to tell her whether I was on a cell phone when she asked. I asked what the survey was about and she said I'd be able to determine in a couple questions, but she still needed to know if I was on a cell or home phone. I hung up.
