I received a call from this number. I work for the IRS - this is 100% a scam call. First, there is no "legal department" that is going to make collection calls. Second, the IRS will not file a criminal lawsuit against you out of the blue. They send notices first. They will get your attention by garnishing your wages and/or your bank account and/or property. Do not give any personal information to this caller, do not call them back. Please report to TIGTA.gov under IRS Impersonation Scam. You can fill out anonymously and it only takes a few minutes.

Don't do it, my sister works for the IRS and I told her I got this same as you...she stated on Sept 7 that it was turned over to FBI because it is a federal offense and can carry Jail time...only problem is that the call was not made in the United States, its from somewhere else.

I knew it was a scam when they said it was IRS. I called back e nagged in a conversation. It was a woman with an accent. After awhile I asked how she would like. It if someone tried to scam her mother, told her, her mother would be ashamed of her. She then admitted it was a scam and said she had no choice. Then she asked to help her out by buying an ITunes card with a certain code number on it. I just told I wasn't crazy and hung up

Left a VM. A computerized male voice claimed to be an officer w/ the legal dept with the IRS. Stated there was a criminal case against me. Warned me not to disregard the call. Also stated that if I or my lawyer did not call back all he could do is wish me good luck as the situation unfolds on me. Computerized voice + bad grammar + unprofessional verbage = SCAM
