Scam call reported by 70.198.69.xxx
Duh, if you do not know yet, this caller and countless other scam callers do not pick up to talk to you until you SAY HELLO A SECOND TIME! That first "hello" will kick their auto computer dialer into a hold pattern, then it waits for you to repeat your greeting. (You may be thinking, "Maybe grandma did not hear you the first time?"...she did not, but something else did.) Speaking again will tell that crafty pc scamming program to switch the call over to a person...or my favorite...the automated voice scammer. Not being discriminating, but the real people are usually a thickly accented. They will start struggling to say your name and start reading their pc screens which show the scamming routine for the day. Or the auto scam salesperson will kick in, usually asking a question....trying to prompt you to answer. These are my favorite because the scamming company is smart enough to use a computer to scam. How do you cuss a computer out? But-bonus! Sometimes the computer scam systems will accept a call back, by you, and ask you to press whatever number you need to not be contacted again. This works ONLY if you have NOT picked up the phone when they called. Take note all family members! Seriously, this does work. I do suggest you try it. You need to listen to the entire computerized comment when you call back.. Most start with "This number is out of service," or something else, hoping you will hang up and not hear what is next! What is next is a completely different statement about getting your number out of their calling cycle. I have found requesting your number be removed by the robo scammers does work...I kept a list and monitored the calls. Oh, by the way, if you are thinking it is 1980 and scammers sit at their phones, punching in phone numbers one-by-one all day...wake up! The real people are in a crowded room (called the Boiler Room) waiting for their pcs to tell them you answered your phone. So they wake up, start to figure out how your name is pronounced a
